Yule logs at the National Christmas Tree, Washington DC
I went to DC last night to see the National Christmas Tree and took far more photos of the fire than of the tree. Admittedly, I have a fascination with fire....and I like to poke around the logs in a fireplace and keep the fire going...but contrary to the concerns of my family and for The Record...I am NOT a pyromaniac. I just like to play with fire, not destroy things with it or use its powers for Evil.
The fire at the Ellipse was very impressive (not to mention warm to hover near). The logs measured one to two feet in diameter and were burning in a pit that was about six feet square. I'm not sure how deep the pit was but I would guess at least five feet deep.
Yule logs have an interesting history that you can read about HERE (Wikipedia). For edible Yule Logs go HERE (All Recipes).
Embers fly as new logs are added to the fire. (Cool)
