Soy field and barn near Hermann, Missouri
I am visiting my parents just outside of St. Louis, Missouri (for non-Americans, St. Louis is nicknamed "the Gateway to the West," hence the giant arch...Missouri is the middle of the Midwest from all directions). I have no Internet access other than an infrequent visit or two to a WIFI cafe and the visits are unfortunately work-related. SO this is all to say that I thank you for your gracious recent comments and apologize for my delay in returning a response.
Yesterday we took quite a scenic drive to a small town, Hermann, to have lunch at their winery. En route we passed farm after farm with alternate crops of soy beans and corn...the corn this year is HUGE...7 to 8 feet tall! Believe it or not, there are many wineries in this region that produce some award-winning wines....and because Missouri is the "Show Me" state and the place of my birth, I am only too happy to visit each one before confirming the validity of their claims :-) Take care everyone!

This looks like fun - I never knew there were vineyards in Missouri. Great photos!

I hope you'll share the results of your (hopefully extensive!) wine research after you return safely home. :-)

I've had Stone Hill wine! A friend brought me some when she visited her family in Branson. It's always fun to go to the wineries - we visited some beautiful ones in Traverse City, Michigan earlier this summer.
Sounds like you're having a fun time! Enjoy!
