a desert sunset--
photographs in solitude
(just an aftermath)
the souvenir i'd forfeit
if i could share the moment
Most often when I journey out with my camera, I prefer to go it alone...whether the destination is within walking distance from my home or many miles away (as in the photograph above). The luxury of shooting alone is that you can take as long or as little time as you like and do not feel the pressure of selfishly boring the other person who might be along-- whether that "pressure" is real or imagined.
As passionate as I am about photography, there are unexpected moments when I would prefer to set the camera aside and enjoy the moment silently with a loved one or a friend. This desert sunset was one of those moments. (But those who know me well, know that given the choice between being there alone or not being there at all... :-)
The photo is stunning. I love this. I never had interest in the desert before, but now I'll have to see for myself.

Solitude has its purposes, and they are many.
Seems like you shared this moment successfully :-)

i'm always on the look out for a rosy sunset to snap - and I think your tanka is mighty fine too :-)
