Admittedly, Las Vegas would not have been in my Top Ten List of places to vacation. I'm not much of a gambler. In fact, I got VERY excited when I discovered that the casinos had penny slot machines. I DO love to play games and the side of me that loves to WIN best hangs around the low stakes part of the casinos. At times I did up the ante and play nickel and quarter video poker so I did my fair share of high-stakes rolling.
We actually spent neither much time nor money gambling. There was so much more to see. I had been told this by numerous sources, but being a Missouri girl, I had to be shown. I'll start with my Top Two FAVORITE things about this gamble on Vegas.
My first favorite was the Cirque de Soleil, KA. They do not allow photography but truly it didn't matter because KA defies all description...it must be experienced. To try to accurately describe KA would be like passing on a recipe for a real Parisian macaroon and expecting the reader to know just what this little morsel of heaven tastes like. If you go to Paris, taste a macaroon. If you go to Vegas, see KA (and get a macaroon at the Bouchon Bakery in the Venetian because they taste like the ones you get in Paris).
My second favorite thing about Vegas was the Palazzo Suite that we stayed in our last two nights. It was huge. It was luxurious. And it was ours for two nights and three days. I didn't want to leave it....ever. (But there were restaurants to sample so...)
Palazzo Bathroom (like you couldn't tell)...robes (of course!), real orchids, bath salts, a vanity w/lighted makeup mirror (not shown), and that black object in the upper right corner is and LCD TV (okay, that they could leave out actually)
Tom had some errands to run so while he was out and about I soaked in the tub which was so deep that when I sat straight up in it, the top came almost even with my shoulders. After my relaxing bath, I ordered In Suite Dining: a yummy Tuscan salad and iced tea. Then I lounged on the sofa (I didn't want to muss the bed) and tried to stop smiling so much for fear someone would arrive at the door and say there had been a terrible mixup with the reservations.
It's like the pillows have little halos..and yes, it was incredibly comfortable!
That's all for this post....I must go change the sheets on my own bed and scrub the tub if I want to take a bath....all good things (but I say, better they come to and end than not begin at all!)
This brings back some fun moments for me! I am much the same as you are -- not big into gambling and such, but Vegas does provide plenty of photo ops! So glad I discovered your blog through Write on Wednesday!

No, no Bette this time as she wasn't on stage during our visit...and in truth, I had forgotten about her and picked Phantom of the Opera which I liked but didn't hold a candle to KA.
Yes, Becca, there's SO much to do that I would welcome another visit...guess Vegas showed this MO girl a thing or two. I'd love to see "O" sometime if it's still there.

I guess you couldn't drag you-know-who to see Bette Midler, right? As I've said before, you are really paying your dues. But it should all be worth it in the end when you get to experience something REALLY nice. Grrrr.

Sounds like fun! There's lots to do in Vegas besides gamble, isn't there? I adore the Cirque de Soleil extravaganza's...would love to see that one. I saw "O" in Vegas during my one and only trip - to a handbell convention, if you can believe it!
